iPhone thief steals phone then fails to wipe it before taking selfies (DOH!)

I see you Hafid!

A selfie-loving fellow named Hafid has become Internet famous this week for allegedly stealing a woman’s iPhone, and then jet-setting over to Dubai to document his everyday life. Not an unusual crime by today’s standards, but Hafid appears to have no clue his pictures are spreading through popular social networks—and it’s all thanks to Dropbox’s automatic uploads feature.

According to the victim, who started a Tumblr titled “Life of a Stranger Who Stole My Phone,” she was in Spain one night (drunk) when her phone was swiped at the beach along with other belongings. In most cases, a smart thief would immediately wipe the phone and start over from scratch. But Hafid must not know smartphones are, you know, smart. And instead of wiping the device, he’s been using it as if it was his all along.

Here’s Hafid’s friends wrestling. Here’s Hafid and a car. Here’s Hafid eating. And more. It looks like an average Tumblr save for the fact that pictures being uploaded have been taken with a stolen phone. Clearly Hafid lives a normal life with friends, food and tank tops; it’s just that, well, he steals phones from tourists and takes many, many pictures of himself.
