Sony has released another trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it’s even better than the one that was shown off during the Super Bowl earlier this month. Plenty of new footage is shown, with much of it dedicated to the character of Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, who seems to have fostered plenty of anger leading up to his newfound powers. We also get a few quick looks at The Rhino, played by Paul Giamatte, and Green Goblin, played by Dane DeHaan.
While most of the trailer is dominated by beautiful action set pieces, we do get a better look at the relationship between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. It sure looks like Parker’s personal life will be affected a great deal by his role as Spider-Man, but it’s unclear how deep and dark the movie will go. One shot in particular certainly suggests there’s plenty of trouble ahead for good old Spidey.
“You wanted to be the hero?” Electro asks. “You better be willing to pay the price.”
In the video’s description, Sony hints that Spider-Man could pay the “ultimate price” in his next adventure. Is that a suggestion we could see Stacy get killed? Since there is so much footage abound, beware of big plot spoilers. If you want to go into the film fresh, I’d suggests just staying away for a few more months. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in the U.S. on May 2.
