Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a hard one to sell. A relative unknown compared to the Iron Mans and Captain Americas, Guardians is a more obscure part of the Marvel universe, though no less beloved among fans. But for someone who doesn’t know a thing about the comics? The previous trailers have definitely looked intriguing, but there’s that lingering feeling that this could be either really good or really bad.
Judging from the most recent trailer, meant for the U.K. audience, Guardians of the Galaxy is going to be really good.
The previous trailers focused on gradually introducing the Guardians, led by Peter Quill/Starlord (played by Chris Pratt). Slowly we saw where their adventures would take them, and now we get a terrific look at their motivation behind wanting to protect the galaxy, along with a very brief look at the main antagonist of the film, Ronan the accuser (played by Lee Pace). Other names include Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Zoe Saldana as Gamora.
I’m hopeful Guardians won’t disappoint. Considering the actors involved, and this being a Marvel movie coming out at the tail end of summer, there seems to be a palpable confidence behind the movie. And the trailer… well, it’s definitely not short on adrenaline. There’s also that trademark humor infused into the film, which we’ve come to expect in previous Marvel movies.
Look for this one to hit theaters in the U.S. on Aug. 1.
