Rumor: Apple Watch Release Set for Late March

Source: CES2015

Apple initially promised the Apple Watch would launch in “early 2015,” and now we may finally have a more specific release window for the highly-anticipated wearable device. According to 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman and his typically reliable sources, the new smartwatch is set to launch before the end of March.

Before then, Apple will apparently begin training its retail employees as soon as next month. 9to5Mac notes that at least one or two employees from every Apple Store will head to corporate offices in Cupertino and Austin, Texas for hands-on experience with the device. After that, those employees will head back home and pass that information on to the rest of their co-workers.

The whole thing sounds a bit convoluted, but it makes sense when you consider the company’s obsession with secrecy. This way the Apple Watch can stay locked up for as long as possible. Of course, it’s also possible Apple simply hasn’t manufactured enough units to send them out to each store.

Either way, it sounds like the Apple Watch isn’t too far away from launching now. 9to5Mac notes that delays are still possible, but we’re holding out hope that Apple manages to meet its own promise of an early 2015 release.
