Some rumors have suggested Apple will finally ditch the 16GB iPhone option this year, giving users a minimum of 32GB of storage instead. But a new iPhone 6s leaks suggests the entry-level 16GB option is sticking around for the foreseeable future.
What appears to be a sticker from the back of an iPhone 6s box, which was posted on Twitter by Steve Hemmerstoffer — the same source of the iPhone 6s Plus packaging photos — seems to confirm that Apple’s new smartphones will come in a 16GB option for at least one more year.
That’s going to be incredibly disappointing news to most iPhone users, who feel 16GB of storage is no longer enough. While we may be streaming music and video, and storing more in the cloud than ever before, apps and games continue to get larger.
What’s more, we frequently use our iPhones for snapping photos and shooting videos — so much so that the device is the most popular camera in the world among Flickr users. And with an apparent new camera sensor on the way, those photos and videos will get bigger, with 4K video recording capabilities on the way to the iPhone for the first time.
Yet again, then, you’re going to have to pay more for your iPhone if you can’t live with just 16GB of storage. Here’s to hoping Apple will finally ditch this option next year for the iPhone 7. This is really disappointing.
