With streaming video services jockeying for position and exclusive rights, the monthly churn can become a little overwhelming as titles disappear from one service only to appear on another. We’re here to help, with a list of new items coming to Netflix and Amazon Prime in October. Given that it’s Halloween season, there are a few scary movies you can keep an eye out for (particularly The Nightmare, the latest from Room 237 director Rodney Ascher). Television fans will also be able to catch up on the latest seasons of The Flash, Arrow, and American Horror Story — just in time for the debut of Lady Gaga in American Horror Story: Hotel. And if you're into time travel, there's even more exciting news: Amazon Prime is getting the Back to the Future trilogy for a one-month run.
Of course, additions are nothing without some departures to get worked up about, and this month there are plenty to choose from. Annie Hall, The Exorcist, and The Big Lebowski are all disappearing from Netflix in October, as is Pee-wee's Big Adventure. That last one is headed straight to Amazon, which will serve as the movie's exclusive streaming home, even though Netflix is releasing the Pee-wee sequel next year. Awkward.
