If you bought a Moto X Pure Edition and are using it on Verizon with your unlimited data plan, feel free to go into the settings of your new phone and turn on the phone’s WiFi Hotspot and see if tethering works. According to Kellen over at Droid-Life, It’s working on his phone. It’s also working for a handful of others over at XDA developers as well day one right out of the box without any updates, rooting, or unlocking the boot loader. To clarify, this is a free WiFi hotspot and tethering without having the $29.99 per month subscription that Verizon normally chargers unlimited data users that others get for free built into all plans.
This is great news for unlimited data users as the Moto X Pure Edition starts at only $399 without a contract and comes straight from Motorola. How long will this last? Who knows. Since the phone works on Verizon but Verizon has no control over the hardware or software on the Moto X Pure Edition, it could be a loop hole that never gets closed. So for now, happy days for all you unlimited data users that bought this phone!
