Star Wars: The Force Awakens Theatrical Poster unveiled

New Shiny

Disney and Lucasfilm have released an image that shows the Star Wars: The Force Awakens theatrical poster that will grace movie theaters everywhere.

There a few things worth noting in the poster.

  • We’ve already seen Finn (John Boyega) with the original Anakin/Luke lightsaber, but putting it on the poster definitely makes you think it will play a larger part in the film.
  • Some sort of symbolism to how Rey (Daisy Ridley) is mirroring Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) lightsaber?
  • Over the shoulder of R2-D2 is a new creature we haven’t seen before. Our guess is Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), but that is pure speculation.
  • Good to see Leia (Carrie Fisher) hasn’t lost her flair for hairstyles.
  • The big orb at the top… if you look around online you can find info on it, but we won’t go too spoilery here. It definitely fits in with some of the oldest plot rumors, however.
  • The X-Wing pilot is clearly Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).
  • Luke is no where to be found

The new trailer is expected to make its debut Monday evening during Monday Night Football, so stay tuned.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2015 with early tickets and free goodies going on sale tomorrow night.
