Two Galaxy S7 screen sizes revealed in latest leak from a source
Samsung will apparently try something new with the Galaxy S7. A fresh rumor out of Korea claims the flagship phone will come in two different sizes.
According to ETNews, the smaller Galaxy S7 will feature a flat 5.2-inch display while the Galaxy S7 edge will feature a 5.5-inch curved screen. Samsung allegedly refers to the two devices as HERO1 and HERO2 internally. Development on both models should be complete by January, with mass production kicking off in February.
The report adds that Samsung plans to ship nearly 5 million units to start. The company apparently expects the regular Galaxy S7 to be a bigger success, with the 5.2-inch handset making up roughly 3.3 million devices out of the initial order. The remaining units will cover the larger Galaxy S7 edge.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the Galaxy S7 could come in multiple sizes, but now we may know exactly how big each model will be. ETNews even offers up what looks like a leaked page from the phone’s user manual, confirming the 5.2 and 5.5-inch options.
The image also appears to reveal a few more hardware specifications. That includes a USB-C charging port, along with either a Snapdragon 820 processor or Samsung’s Exynos 8890 chip. We’re expecting an upgraded camera as well. We’ll know more when Samsung unveils the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge next year.
