Paul Reubens is making his comeback as Pee-Wee Herman next month with Pee-Wee's Big Holiday, a Netflix exclusive film he's been working on with Judd Apatow and writer Paul Rust for a half-decade. The streaming service released the movie's first full trailer this morning — a 40-second teaser premiered in January — and it sheds a little more light on Pee-Wee's decision to take his first-ever vacation.
In short, he has a hunk to thank. Joe Mangianello shows up in Fairville on a motorcycle and orders a milkshake in the coolest way possible, and his sudden appearance feels like destiny for Pee-Wee: it's the spark he needs to leave town for the first time. It only takes a few seconds for his trip to fly off the rails, of course: he's kidnapped by bank robbers, forced to hitchhike, and made to traverse white-water rapids using just a rotting log. Were you expecting a tranquil, pleasant journey? If you want to see the rest, you can check it out on Netflix on March 18th; SXSW attendees can catch its premiere a few days earlier.
