Apple is discussing a robot named “Liam” during its event at its Cupertino HQ on Monday.
Liam, which we haven’t heard about before, is a robot that deconstructs iPhones that are ready to be recycled. However, Liam is smart enough to save certain parts that can live on, so it basically breaks down the iPhone to save the good stuff and get rid of the other stuff. Silver from the motherboard, for example, can be used again in solar panels.
Apple designed Liam and the company’s environmental vice president Lisa Jackson said there’s nothing else like Liam in the world. Pretty cool stuff!
