WhatsApp, the world's most widely used messaging app, is now an app on your Mac and PC

Using WhatsApp on your desktop is now even easier, thanks to a new native app for Mac and PC. The client comes with all of the features you get with WhatsApp on the web, including the ability to send emoji characters and voice messages.

Just like the web client, WhatsApp for your desktop basically mirrors WhatsApp on your phone, and still requires your handset to be activated. So, you can’t use the app without having the service set up on your smartphone, or to set up a second WhatsApp account.

That doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly useful, though. If you spend all day at a computer, it’s good to have the ability to use WhatsApp without pulling your phone out of your pocket. The desktop app also boasts features the web client doesn’t have.

For instance, with the native app, you get proper desktop notifications. You also get a whole bunch of keyboard shortcuts that let you start new chats, set your status, archive messages, and more with a quick button combination.

WhatsApp for desktops is completely free to download, and you can grab it now by following the source link below. To set it up, you simply need to scan a QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone — just like you would for WhatsApp Web.
