Alexa can now order millions of items for you through Amazon with Amazon Prime

It's been possible to use Amazon's Echo and Alexa assistant to make basic purchases - reorders of existing products, a handful of select items from Amazon - since the device launched, but today the Echo's purchasing abilities are being greatly expanded. According to the company, it's now possible to shop for millions of products with just your voice, even if it isn't something you've purchased in the past.

The products do have to be eligible for Prime shipping, and Amazon says it is adding more products to the list every day. Once you ask Alexa for a product, say coffee, Alexa will suggest a Prime eligible product and tell you the cost. Saying "yes" will place the order and you're all done. Amazon says that products purchased via Alexa also qualify for free returns.

The new shopping features are available starting today. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to yell 75 different items at my Echo so I won't have to go outside this weekend.
