All Microsoft Studio games will be published to Xbox One and Windows 10
From here on out, any game developed by Microsoft Studios or one of their exclusive subsidiaries will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
That means the games will sell for both Xbox Ones and Windows 10 PCs. They’ll be cross-buy in digital form, too. So, snagging the game on one of the digital marketplaces means you’ll be able to play it on both platforms.
Xbox Play Anywhere was revealed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference back in June. While announcing the official Windows 10 Anniversary Update release date, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Windows and Devices Group, Yusuf Mehdi dropped this little nugget about the future of Xbox Play Anywhere.
Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store.
That’s pretty straight forward.
All future Halo games, Gears of War titles and whatever else Microsoft exclusively cooks up will play on both Windows 10 PCs and the Xbox One. The only catches are that your purchases must be digital and you need to be running the latest version of Windows 10.
