New international trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One answers a big question on the importance Jyn Erso

Well, that explains one very big question we’ve had.

In the previous Rogue One trailers, Mon Motha briefs Jyn Erso on a super secret mission, but we never find out how the Rebel Alliance knows a major weapons test is imminent. Turns out, it’s Jyn’s father, Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), who tells the Rebels about the Empire’s evil plans.

Unfortunately, that’s all we get; we still don’t actually see Mikkelsen’s character, although he was apparently shown off during the Star Wars Celebration in Europe earlier this year. It’s clear Disney wants to largely keep his character’s involvement a secret until Rogue One hits theaters.

We’ve heard that Mikkelsen’s character was inspired by J. Robert Oppenheimer, the famous U.S. physicist who is considered the “father of the atomic bomb.” Mikkelsen’s character is allegedly key to the creation of the Death Star, which is why the Rebels are so interested in Jyn in the first place.

Check out the new trailer below. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
