Wonder Woman official full length trailer released

On Thursday, Warner Bros. revealed the first full-length trailer for the superhero origin film about the first lady of DC Comics and arguably the most recognizable female hero in all of comic books. It's the second trailer for the movie since the teaser trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this summer.

This new trailer works in unison with the Comic-Con teaser, which was full of action but didn't reveal much about Wonder Woman's plot. The new trailer does more table-setting, letting us know that the film is primarily about Wonder Woman a.k.a. Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) looking back into the past. It appears the film will also explain why she's so reluctant to fight, as she stated during her appearance in Batman v Superman.

We see a battle that brings men and their bullets to Themyscira, the idyllic island where Diana and Amazons like her live, signaling that men spoil whatever they touch. But we also see Diana battle in World War I, "the war to end all wars" according to Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), which means that even though she's reluctant to fight and bring men to war, there's a humanity she believes is worth saving.

Spliced in with these moments of moral conflict are, of course, some slow-motion, jaw-dropping action scenes featuring Amazons, bullet-deflecting bracelets, and yes, that epic, glowing, golden Lasso of Truth — Wonder Woman's signature weapon — in an entirely brand new scene.

Wonder Woman is slated for release in 2017.
