Marvel’s upcoming teen drama Cloak & Dagger just got its first trailer, showing off the kind of angst and young romance Freeform is trying to corner the market on. For the first time, we see Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone “Ty” Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), two teens from very different walks of life who fall in love as they discover their superpowers. But things can only get more complicated from there.
Cloak & Dagger will be Marvel Television’s first series on the fledgling network. First announced last April, the series is based on Tandy and Ty’s comic book adventures from the early 1980s. But rather than fight superhuman threats, Cloak and Dagger typically make crime and the drug trade their enemies.
Of course, Cloak & Dagger won’t be alone on Freeform. Marvel also recently announced the upcoming New Warriors series, starring Squirrel Girl and an assortment of super powered misfits. That series will be Marvel’s first half-hour comedy, as it follows the New Warriors trying to save the day without screwing up.
