Galaxy S5 “Camera Failure” Issue Confirmed By Samsung

Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has one of the nicer cameras on a smartphone, but that’s when it works. Unfortunately, some new buyers of the smartphone have noticed that the device’s 16-megapixel camera doesn’t always boot. The issue, first reported on the XDA Developer’s forums, is not exactly what you want to happen to your brand new smartphone, now is it? Samsung, and Verizon, since it seems most affected units are on that carrier, both recently addressed the issue.

As you can see in the tweet above, Verizon is willing to replace or fix devices with the issue, so long as you let it know about your phone. Samsung, meanwhile, told The Verge that a limited number of devices are affected. “ ”We have learned that a limited number of Galaxy S5 devices may have an issue that causes ‘Camera Failure’ pop-up error message,” the company said, noting that customers who have a defective unit should call 1-888-987-4357.

There’s no word yet on how widespread this is, though many users are reporting problems on the XDA Developers’ forums, even after a hard reset.
