The OnePlus 6T will feature a 6.41-inch Full Optic AMOLED display (19.5:9, “baby teardrop,” Gorilla Glass 6, 2340×1080, 402ppi), 6GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, Snapdragon 845 processor, 3700mAh battery, and dual rear camera (20MP + 16MP). It’ll run Android 9 Pie out of the box with OnePlus’ Oxygen OS on top and come in both Mirror and Midnight Black colors, just like the OnePlus 6.
For the first time in a OnePlus phone, the 6T includes an in-display fingerprint reader. The company calls its version of this technology “Screen Unlock.” OnePlus claims it’s the fastest-performing implementation of in-display fingerprint authentication yet.
The 6T has a dual-camera setup with 16MP and 20MP sensors and an aperture of f/1.7 for the primary lens. It offers optical image stabilization, and OnePlus is introducing a new Nightscape feature that’s meant to help improve low-light photography, which has been a weakness of prior OnePlus phones. A new Studio Lighting feature, developed in collaboration with photographer Kevin Abosch, similarly aims to produce more flattering portraits.
Being sold at T-Mobile stores (over 5,600) is a huge move for OnePlus. They are not just an online-only, direct-to-consumer brand any longer. Now, they get to really compete with the big dogs in a carrier store with wide distribution outside of their own online shop.
Verizon is listed as a supported carrier as well. That might be even bigger news to many than the T-Mobile partnership.
The OnePlus 6T will start at $549 for the 6GB + 128GB model (Midnight Black). They’ll also have 8GB +128GB (Midnight and Mirror Black) and 8GB + 256GB (Midnight Black) models at $579 and $629, respectively. T-Mobile will only carry the 8GB + 128GB model in Midnight Black.
The OnePlus 6T goes on sale November 1 at 9AM Eastern (6AM Pacific).
