It's been over a year since Girl Meets World was formally announced, and today Disney Channel released an official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Boy Meets World spinoff. Check out the video below for your first look at parents Cory and Topanga Matthews, and their daughter Riley:
Developed for TV by Michael Jacobs (who also created Boy Meets World), Girl Meets World stars Ben Savage (Cory), Danielle Fishel (Topanga), Rowan Blanchard (Riley), and Sabrina Carpenter (Riley's best friend Maya Hart). The series will also feature appearances from other BMW stars, including William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) and Lee Norris (Minkus).
As a huge Boy Meets World fan this gives me a healthy does of skepticism and optimism. I am hoping that while they focus on learning life lessons through comedy, I hope they don't leave out the more down to earth episodes that made my generation think and ask questions (Shawn's Dad and Mother situation). But I it gives me great hope that Michael Jacobs is bringing this series back and not some studio head ho might not have been a fan or worse, not even seen a single episode of the original series.
Girl Meets World has yet to be given a premiere date, although we know it'll debut sometime this summer.
