The LG G4 won’t get its official unveiling until later this month (April 28th), but the company isn’t wasting any time showing off specific features from the new smartphone. We’ve already seen its display and its updated software, now we’re getting a closer look at the G4′s camera as well.
A teaser video released by LG UK on Monday focuses on the G4′s ability to take lowlight shots, especially in a city environment. The device boasts an impressive F/1.8 aperture, meaning the lens can take in more light than any competing device. By taking in more low light you will not have to rely on your camera's flash eliminating those shots where your subject looks lightbulb. This would also slightly speed up your shots are you don't have to wait for focus and the flash to go off. Something parents of little ones know all too well. It just barely beats the Galaxy S6, which features an F/1.9 camera, and trounces last year’s G3 (F/2.4) and the iPhone 6 (F/2.2).
LG doesn’t reveal the specific megapixel count, though we’re expecting it to pack a 20.7-megapixel rear camera. That sounds pretty great on paper, though there’s still a few important factors to consider. Mostly, we still don’t know what kind of image processing the G4 will pack, and after 8 megapixels, that is more important than the camera’s hardware.
With the LG G4 set to hit the stage on April 28, it won’t be much longer before we get our hands on the highly anticipated smartphone. We can’t wait to test out that upgraded camera for ourselves, and based on what we’ve seen so far it’s shaping up to be one of the best in the mobile industry.
